The Anthropology Museum is a teaching museum with collections available for research. Research may be conducted by students for coursework, Independent Studies, Graduate Thesis, and by NIU faculty and staff. Researchers outside the NIU community can also access the collection for research with specific requests.

The Anthropology Museum also serves university students through the Department of Anthropology and the Museum Studies Program.
